I took this shot late in January, when the lift stuck on the Science Centre Tower.
I always quite liked the shot, however I felt it was ruined by having a fire engine platform reaching up towards the lift cabin. So, armed with Photoshop, I cloned the offending platform out of the way, and am happier with the result.
It’s definitely a postcard-style picture, so I feel it’s fair game to clean it up to display the shot I intending to take. If it were a photo-journalistic shot, I’d be a little bit more concerned.
For those of you who are curious, here’s a link to the unaltered image. The actual change is tiny, however a friend of mine (Hi Craig!) is always so voiceferous about any photographic alterations, that I feel like a bit of a criminal.
So, when is an alteration too much?
