Glow.

Glow.

Taken this evening, between showers. Many thanks to Shug for being my willing assistant with this shot – the bridge and some other parts of the picture were boosted using his powerful Metz flashgun – a technique I hadn’t tried before now. The exposure needed a good 90 seconds at f/8 to get the sky that red.

Have noticed that the light pollution is especially noticeable in Pollok Park. As there is little illumination within the park, the pollution is all too evident. However, I was relying on it in this shot to add a bit of interest.

That’s really quite surreal…

… yes actually not sure if I like it, now that it’s posted – it’s rather unsettling!

I haven’t reddened the sky at all, the light pollution is just magnified 10-fold by the long exposure.

It’s definetly a good picture to post for Halloween. It is a bit spooky.

It’s quite incredible, that red. It’s like the Martians have landed!

…oh, and the use of the torch worked really well, here.

That is the craziest sky I’ve ever seen! Very interesting shot, like what you’ve done with the flashgun and the long exposure.

Yeah, if I were an astronomer I really would be crying into my beer right now…. its really bad pollution, but it gives me a nice shot :-)
