Capital Thoughts.

I have a bit of a routine for any time we stay in another city: I’ll get up early, about 6-7am, and wander around the area close to where we’re staying. Often I’ll see different things when by myself: I’ve got time to stop and look at a scene, or wander around the same area for 5-10 minutes…

I felt this was my best shot from our weekend in Edinburgh (to be fair, I only took about 5 or so, so it didn’t have much competition!). To me, these dark, narrow alleyways off the Royal Mile are far more memoraberable than the huge castle, gardens and old cobbled streets. Most of them lead you into semi-private courtyards, however you can wander around them freely and quite often they’ll lead you down some steep steps to another part of the old town, which you probably thought was miles away, but in reality was just 40ft below you.

heh, yes I remember all these alleyways. I wanted to go have a wander down them but I was very limited on time :o ( Like the photo, although I’m a bit ambivalent about the dutch tilt.

Yeah, I know what you mean… I couldn’t decide about the tilt, but thought I’d just give it a try…

Well, you have me tilting my head to the right! I find myself wanting it straight…

Not that I’m trying to be contrary, but I quite like the tilt. Makes it a bit more visually interesting and striking for me :)

Its the tilt that makes the pic.

If it was just normally slanted then you would say “ohh its a picture of a dark alleyway – he posted one of them up last week”

carry on the good work bro
