The World Will Live As One.

The World Will Live As One.

Hey folks.

I’ve now let most of our real-world friends and family know our news, so I think its time I spilled the bean over the Internet too. I must apologise if I’ve forgot to tell anyone already, it’s just been a whirlwind of phone calls, meet-ups and emails. No offence meant.

Myself and Amanda started dating on the 15th of Feb 2002. On the 15th of Feb 2006, I went shopping for “camera gear” whilst in New York. This wasn’t entirely the truth, of course! :-)

2 days later, I took Amanda on a horsedrawn carriage ride around Central Park, and then dragged her (amidst much complaining – due to the fiercely cold winds) across about 10 blocks up to Strawberry Fields. Once there I got down on one knee (aww, bless!) and asked the love of my life, my best pal and my soul mate, Amanda, to marry me.

She said “Yes!”… Well, actually she stammered something and took her gloves off… but I took this as a yes, and as an invitation to put a ring on her engagement finger.

Normal, non-slushy, non-romantic posts shall continue shortly, I promise!

You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one,
I hope some day you’ll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Aww, congrats Alan and Amanda :) I remember doing something similar in Kilkenny in Ireland (minus the horse and carriage ride) – that was bloody freezing too.

The ultimate romantic story…a carriage ride in Central Park and a proposal in Strawberry Fields. Even a jaded old coot like me feels the emotion of this moment in your lives. Congratulation to you both!
