Prepared.

Prepared.

It was one of the hottest days of the year so far in Glasgow, with the air thick and heavy towards the afternoon’s end.

Over dinner my mate Mike and I couldn’t decide whether to go out for photos or not – the evening light was flat and dank, and we knew the potential for good photography just wasn’t there. However it started getting darker, darker and darker, till we just knew it was gonna get thundery.

As soon as the storm broke we headed out onto the streets, originally to try and take pictures of the lightning – but this was just too tricky in the pouring rain. After 20-30 minutes we knew the storm was directly overhead, and although the lightning was still difficult to capture, the rainfall was immense!

There were many different reactions to the rain: two older gents joined us in sheltering in a bus shelter, a younger girl was trudged on home through the rain, a psychotic jogger continued his routine regardless. We watched them, and took some pictures.

Really enjoyable night of photography. We got soaked, will probably be stiff in the morning, and to top that off Mike’s memory card erased itself (I’m hoping he retrieves the files OK), but we both had a great time.

Shame you missed the lightning – I love getting lightning pictures, except lightning is just so scarce in the UK. Still, sounds like a great night – it’s always fun to go out photographing with someone.
