An Experiment.

An Experiment.

This is a new thing for me … I’m experimenting with High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography…

I often feel that these look too “artificial” when I see others constructing them, so here’s my attempt at the technique. I’ve deliberately maintained most of the silhouette-effect of the landscape, and just used HDR to give a small amount of forestry detail.

Anyway, as you may already be aware, I’m not a big fan of technical “camera talk” so I’ll just leave it at that. This was us near the north end of Loch Lomond, looking south-east. The sun had set behind us, and I think was just illuminating the clouds a little. We were lucky, as it looked like the whole night would’ve been a total loss, until this point.

Awesome shot, I thinks it’s a great HDR

Nice image. It looks like there’s a distinct difference between dark areas and total blackness, especially in the trees. Perhaps contrast?

Beautiful shot, the colours are stunning. It doesn’t look like a typical artificial HDR, and I really like the misty look of it too.
